Tsavo East national park nicknamed as the “Theatre of the Wild”. Its famous with its large herds of the red-dusted Elephants which like rolling on the red dusty soil. The young ones like playing with the adults as they keep spraying themselves with the dust. At night the Elephants are found near the clear Blue water of the Palm-shaded Galana River. The blue water of the Galana river is the most Evocative image not only in Kenya but entire Africa. Tsavo East national park is the largest national park in Kenya covering total land area of 13,747 square kilometres. It’s the oldest national park in Kenya. It was established in April 1948 together with its counterpart Tsavo West national park. It was named after the Tsavo River that crosses the park from West to East.

Detailed itinerary of 4 days Tsavo West Safari

Day 2: full day game drive in Tsavo West national park

After breakfast, you will be picked from your lodge   by your guide and transfer to the park for a full day game drive in the plains of Tsavo West national park one of the best wildlife destinations in Kenya, the park is a home to a huge population of wildlife including lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, lesser kudus, wild dogs, elephants and many birds recorded to be over 600 species such as African Fin foot, Basra reed warbler, black – faced sand grouse, common white throat, Corn crake, Fischer’s starling, Golden pipit, Golden – breasted starling, Lesser Kestrel, Marsh Warbler, Martial eagle, Narina trogon, Northern brownbul, Pangani longclaw, Red – backed Shrike, Red – bellied parrot, river warbler, Rufous chatter, Shelley’s starling, Slender-tailed nightjar among others which you will enjoy watching during the game drive.

 At lunch you will either head back to your lodge or have picnic lunch set at one of the picnic sites in the park, then go for the afternoon game drive exploring the park more. In the evening you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: another full day game drive

After breakfast, you will transfer to the park for another day of exploration searching for animals such as lions, elephants, rhinos, cape buffaloes among others. During this game drive you will visit the Rhino Sanctuary where you will see rhinos and the Mzima Springs which is an oasis of clear water and a home to hippos and crocodiles.

You will have lunch at your lodge and return to the park for another game drive exploring more. in the evening you will return to  your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: transfer back to Nairobi

Have a leisure breakfast, checkout of the lodge and embark on a journey back to Nairobi, arrive in time for lunch at the hotel then be dropped off either at the hotel or at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight.
